It can be surprising or frightening that the car suddenly stops on its own. Therefore, AEB is usually paired with Forward Collision Warning (FCW). FCW is usually represented by sound, visible signals, or haptic feedback. In most vehicles, the FCW starts some time before the AEB. This lets drivers know a collision is imminent, giving them a chance to react and apply the brakes. If not enough action is taken, the AEB will intervene. Notably.
